The former Naval Hospital, a 19th-century building in Lisbon’s Alfama district that served as a hospital for over 200 years, is undergoing transformation into The Standard Lisbon, a luxury hotel under the Hyatt group’s Standard brand.
The rehabilitation project, developed by Stone Capital and Libertas with construction by Ecoárea, covers approximately 16,000 square meters and will feature 173 rooms when completed next year. The investment totaled around €90 million, including the adjacent Palácio Santa Clara residential development.
The hotel project is designed by architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho, with interiors by renowned contemporary designer Jaime Hayon. Pascal Gonçalves, administrator of Grupo Libertas, describes it as a “truly differentiating, exuberant and avant-garde project.”
