Portugal’s most expensive street to buy a home is in Cascais.
According to a study of current residential listings, the median asking price on Rua das Faias is €4.35 million. Rua das Violetas, also in Cascais, follows at €4.3 million, while Vale do Lobo in Almancil ranks third at €4.25 million.
Cascais appears repeatedly near the top of the list. Rua das Papoilas has a median asking price of €4 million, while nearby Estoril also features with Avenida Sabóia at €2.4 million. Further south, Fonte Algarve in Almancil reaches just under €4 million and Quinta do Monte in Lagos stands at €3.25 million.
The ranking is based on median asking prices rather than completed transactions, and we only included streets with at least ten active residential listings. It is therefore a measure of what is currently being offered to the market, not a record of the most expensive individual homes ever sold.
That distinction also helps explain why Lisbon is absent from the top of the list. Prime Lisbon can command some of the highest prices per square metre in the country, particularly for new or fully renovated apartments in central locations.
But Cascais and the Algarve offer something different at the upper end of the market: larger houses, gardens, swimming pools, privacy and land.
The geography of the ranking is difficult to ignore. The ten most expensive streets are concentrated along the coast and in southern Portugal, where larger properties in established residential areas remain limited in supply.
At the other end of the study, the contrast is substantial. The most expensive street identified in Viseu had a median asking price of €300,000, around fourteen times less than Rua das Faias.
The difference says as much about the type of property being sold as it does about location. At the very top of the Portuguese market, buyers are often paying for space and scarcity together.
